Brief description
The Nagas are the serpent lords of ancient Indian mythology. They are ruled by three kings, Vasuki,
Taksaka and Sesa. Vasuki rules the kingdom of pleasure. Taksaka, a friend of the celestial king Indra
is associated with construction, limits and “cutting off”. Sesa, the thousand-headed serpent on
whom Vishnu reclines when the universe ceases to be, is the residue of creation and represents the
memory of past epics, the germ of what has been and the possibility of what will be. |
