Brief description
Ambers talismanic properties reach deep into the stratus of immemorial time. Amber nuggets have
been found with other artifacts in European caves. These Paleolithic havens date into the tens, if not
hundreds of thousands of years. According to a leading ‘amberaologist’, David Grimaldi, “the earliest
worked pieces of amber were discovered in Southern England, near the Cheddar/Creswell crags in an
ancient cavern called Gough’s cave. The age of these beads lies between 11,000 and 9,000 years
B.C.” (Amber - Window to the Past) Other references refer to an Amber pendant discovered in an
ancient Dane bog. Entombed in an oxygen free environment, this piece dates to around 7000 BC. |
