Brief description
Like a jet of water, a torque of the sea, this garland is fit for the moon goddess ‘Aphrodite’. Her name
means ‘womb’ yet in other lands, she is the Phonecian ‘Ashtarath’, the sea goddess ‘Atargatis’ and
the Sea-mother Mari, whose blue robe, pearl necklace, and much-varied name refers to the world’s
oceans: Mare, Maria, Marina, Marian etc. Aqua-marine is thus the ‘sacred gem of Sea’, whose cosmic
womb gives birth to the litany of worlds. In the human arena the sea is the sub and supra-conscious
strata from whence imagination and dreams arise. In ancient times Priestesses of the Sea would
wear Aquamarine to enhance their psychic abilities. |
