Brief description
The Butterfly is a liberated flower whose petals refuse to fall and instead take to the air. A Butterfly
cloud is really a heavenly floral bouquet. They have a long legacy in indigenous lore, literature and
the arts. Lepidoptera that appear in the world’s mythic chronicles are associated with love, sex
dreams or death. The Greek name Psyche translates as both Butterfly and Soul. Psyche was the
lover of Eros, the God of love. Often pictured with butterfly wings Psyche was considered the
personification of the soul. In folklore Butterflies were seen as fairies out to steal butter or cream.
Hence, the name butterfly. |
